the best thing about living in New York from what i can tell so far is when two trains going in the same direction, side-by-side, line up perfectly with each other for 5-10 seconds as they accelerate away from the train station.in those few seconds you sometimes catch glimpses of people through the window, and they sometimes catch glimpses of you.inevitably one train will split left while the other splits right, or one will go up while the other goes down, and you’ll never ever see that person again.i’ve had some strong connections with strangers in those 5-10 seconds. i feel like i know more about them from their ‘last look’ then i do from friends i’ve known for years.

in those few seconds you sometimes catch glimpses of people through the window, and they sometimes catch glimpses of you.

inevitably one train will split left while the other splits right, or one will go up while the other goes down, and you’ll never ever see that person again.

i’ve had some strong connections with strangers in those 5-10 seconds. i feel like i know more about them from their ‘last look’ then i do from friends i’ve known for years.
